Help! I need to hand in 4 poems for my
writing class and at least 3 need to come from this grouping. I would
greatly appreciate some feedback on which ones are good, what's crap
and any changes I should look into.
Composition with Red, Blue and Yellow
The time before the Great Tragedy,
before the two kingdoms of Violet and Green
were swallowed by the white sands
of forgotten time, were happy indeed.
When the Great Diplomat, Roy G. Biv,
led Canvas from his stronghold
in the neutral zone of Black
without tyranny or greed.
Then it happened, our world forever changed.
In the blink of an eye two nations gone,
like Indigo of legends old.
All that remains are plains of white.
Red, Blue and Yellow survive,
Lleaderless in a new world.
Fear and panic spread through the land
and then began the great fight.
Red started by increasing their holdings,
decreasing the buffers of Black
and bringing the kingdoms closer.
Prepping for the coming war.
Fighting broke out from Blue and Red.
Yellow saved by its small size.
The tiny kingdom in the southeast
never becoming anger’s whore.
Time passes as it always does.
Leaving the defeated in the past
and winners in the present;
the repeating cycle of history.
Both powers lay still in ruin
like the White nothingness they fear.
Yellow is spared their end
Though its fate is still a mystery.
I Never Thought to Cry
Almost once,
I was nine,
Grandpa died.
One week till ten.
Nearly again,
This time sixteen,
Caught him cheating.
Broke my heart.
Another time,
Twenty the day
Dad moved out
And I moved here.
In all this time,
In all my life
I told myself
Never to cry.
Untitled
Rustic brick
on head of pidgeon.
Spiral tides
of useless emotions.
Another jealous homicide.
The Number
5 minutes ago I aquired
1 drink from a man I desired
1 good thing after getting fired
-
9 more minutes tick away
1 more drink comes my way
7 digits on the napkin
3 more drinks and we slap skin
Hotel Room
The hotel room came with a bible,
like most do.
Bored out of her wit,
she had picked it up
and flipped through
a couple of pages in Genesis.
"Hmm," she said to herself,
in a whimsical way.
"I never thought
of Mrs. Cain before.
I wonder who she was."
And she sat
and she pondered
the rest of the afternoon.
First Failed Attempt
Damn! Damn! Damn!
Foiled again!
Caught in the act
of running away.
Dumb! Dumb! Dumb!
Should've known
I'd get grabbed
by my heel clad mom.
Think! Think! Think!
Form a plan!
Hide my secret!
Lead her astray!
Ha! Ha! Ha!
She'll never know.
An evil genius
am I!
